Prior to founding ETHICORE Political Lobbying in 2009, Abdul Waheed was a Director in the Democracy and Governance Programme of the Human Science Research Council, as well as General Manager of the Business Parliamentary Office.
He has been a former policy and political advisor in the National Department of Transport and the City of Cape Town, he has acquired extensive experience in energy, infrastructure, water, environmental, economic development, tourism and urban planning.
Abdul Waheed has more than 15 years professional experience as a government affairs and political consulting expert. His specializes in political strategy, stakeholder and public policy advocacy and lobbying and strategic communications. He provides strategic counsel to domestic, regional and global companies and trade associations in banking, competition policy, industrial, manufacturing, healthcare and consumer goods.
He has been a member of the South African Government delegation to the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and a member of the Economic Commission for Africa’s Marrakech Task Force on Sustainable Consumption and Production. He has been a delegate to the Parliamentary Network of the World Bank and OECD Anti-Corruption and Integrity Forum. Abdul Waheed is a member of the International Bar Association.
He holds qualifications in governance and political studies, public policy and globalization studies from the University of Cape Town, the Woodrow Wilson and Andrew W. Mellon Foundations (USA) and the Commonwealth Secretariat for Global Advisory Services.
